Damn. Previous update was from March 2021. Alright let’s speed through 5 years worth of changes or lack thereof. I am still the most active on Instagram, feel free to head over if you’re interested.
School
‣ I have graduated from Legal Executive Studies since. Yeah, glad I passed that too.
‣ Decided to go for a UK law degree because I thought my life was mundane and needed some stress. Kidding, I felt that I needed the qualification and wanted the extra knowledge.
Work
‣ Definitely earning more than I did 5 years ago. I’m doing fine, but could use more soon because holy shit, Singapore becoming increasingly expensive.
‣ I am a paralegal now. Literally my dream job 5 years ago. I still feel cool.
Personal
‣ I am happy as can be. I have been travelling a lot more, responsibly within my means.
‣ Dealt with (actually, still kinda dealing with) eczema flare ups for at least a year. Would 100% wish this on my worst enemies. They are finally clearing up but still extremely annoying – I have stubborn weeping eczema on some parts of my eyelids and recently, the knuckle of my left pinky finger.
‣ I removed my 5-year-old titanium white composite veneers done by a beautician.
‣ Also, I’m removing 1 of my 3 wisdom teeth this week. Absolutely terrified. Lol.
‣ Started a new hobby. Painting. You can check out my humble little digital gallery here.
‣ Building a new business venture, but for now I’d like to keep it separate. Maybe someday I can incorporate my art pieces into it without erasing the art’s identity. Let’s see how things go.
Relationship
‣ Because I was loud with my previous relationship, thought I should include an update. You might have been able to work out that the marriage didn’t last – we annulled in 2021.
‣ We opened up our relationship at the end, up to when we had signed the annulment papers. I believe many people worked this out as well, from the timeline of my posts. No animosity and no tea.
‣ The apartment was forfeited along with the 5% downpayment. Second time now, having to forgo a Build-to-Order (BTO) apartment. Maybe BTO was the curse. Lol.
‣ Hosted a separation party. Surprised my friends and family with the (appropriately redacted) Court Order in my 20-minute long presentation, still one of the best parties I have hosted to date. No worries, the ex thought it was funny too.
YouTube
‣ Yes, been extremely busy. BUT I do have an update. I have decided to shift back to my old channel – @michelleakj – because I prefer having my official social media handle name. Why did I create a new channel in the first place? Remember when it was cool to be a “YouTube Partner” by signing your channel away to an organization? I was so proud because I signed with one of the greatest.
Here’s what happened. No crazy stories. Understandably, they prioritized the much bigger YouTubers and neglect the small ones. If my memory serves me well, I only had one good invite in my years with them. Some employees gave me issues when I wrote in to terminate my contract with them, although they were probably just following the company’s policy. Now the YouTube Partnership is with YouTube itself so, won’t be having any issues.
‣ I uploaded a few of the unboxing videos as shorts from my TikTok to YouTube. I don’t want TikTok to be the main “channel” for my videos though, so – there’s that.
Blog
‣ Being happy means much less inspiration. Not very used to writing happy stuff and it doesn’t pack the same punch as my usual melancholic posts. I love my sad posts. Best if they make your heart sink because most times, feeling feelings can be healing.
